A Dress, A Suit, A Cake, Oh My!

I didn’t get as many photos of the kids in their Easter outfits this year.  It’s hard when the photographer of the family is mom and she has a million other things to do in order to get out the door!  But, I did get a few cute ones.

Me and the kiddos!  Not liking how I look, but that’s not the point.  Really – what happened to my lips?  They’re all thin – not that I have Angelina Jolie lips to begin with, but come on!

Anyway – my kids are adorable.  Not sure why Bella has that look on her face – she was probably cranky :o)

The back of her beautiful dress.  She even had tons of gold glitter dust in her hair.  She was so beautiful.

Bubba in his chocolate brown velvet suit!  He’s so cute!!!  I can tell he’s going to be catching a lot attention from the girls :o)

Bella at church – they had all the kids parade in front of the congregation.  They all looked so cute.

I made Texas Sheet Cake for Easter dinner.  My grandparents hosted – as they do every year! (recipe below)

I know I’ve posted this before – but it’s worth posting again for those of you who haven’t seen my Texas Sheet Cake recipe.  Yummy!

TEXAS SHEET CAKE

Bring to Boil :

  • 2 sticks REAL butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tbsp cocoa

In a medium bowl, add to that mixture:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup butter milk or sour cream (if using sour cream, add 1 tsp white vinegar to batter)

Spread in greased and floured pan and bake at 375 degrees for 22 minutes.

Frosting:

  • 1 stick REAL butter, softened
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 6 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 16 oz box powdered sugar

Mix all ingredients together and blend thoroughly. Spread on cake DIRECTLY out of oven.  The frosting will ‘melt’ and spread easily, then it dries to a smooth finish!  Enjoy!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I didn’t post my 365 project photos for last week yesterday, so I’ll get to those tonight!
