Friday night Hubby and I attended a wedding in the beautiful mountains of Lyons, Colorado. My selection of evening wear is a tad slim, so I had the choice between 2 dresses I thought would be good for an evening wedding. The ‘Honeymoon Dress’ or ‘The High School Reunion Dress’. Obviously I need to update my selections – haha – since my honeymoon was ten years ago and my reunion was seven years ago!
(taken on my honeymoon in November 2000)
I chose ‘The Honeymoon Dress’ – and it was perfect.
My dad took a few photos of us before we left. In my ‘it still fits’ shot, he told me to pose standing sideways. For some reason, my dad was all of a sudden a magazine photographer or something and was directing me as to how to pose for the photo! A little weird.
Anyhoodle….
Other than the fact that it was a two hour drive to get there – it was a fun night and rather strange to be with Hubby sans kids.
My friend loaned me some amazing wraps and little jackets to wear that night. I picked a shoulder wrap/jacket that was a deep shade of plum and it looked great with the purple underlay of the dress and my purple eye shadow!
I was excited to wear the beautiful dress again! I wish I could wear it more often. Since I’ve been married (almost 10 years), my weight has fluctuated and at one point I was 22 lbs heavier than on my wedding day – so this was a milestone for me, to be able to fit into this dress again. Today I weigh 6 lbs more then I did the day I was married. Breastfeeding has been my greatest help in losing my pregnancy weight! Woohoo for that!
Being a SAHM, it’s a real treat to get dressed up in heels and shimmery things and be an adult every once and a while. Although, I’ll admit that I spent most of the night watching all the little ones running around in their cute little dresses and as the night continued – their pj’s. Typical mom – I missed my kids the whole time :o)
I hope you all had a good weekend!
Do any of you hang onto clothes as long as I do? There were a couple years in these past 10 years that this dress would haven’t even made it over my hips – seriously – but I held onto it with the ‘maybe one day I can wear it again.’ I know they say you shouldn’t do that, but I do. I’m guilty.

I think you looked so beautiful!! I have one dress, that I wore to my wedding shower, that I've hung onto for some reason. I have my prom dress too, but it's one of those all beaded, Miss America type ones that I know I'll never want to wear again, just because I doubt that will be in style again. My wedding shower dress.....well, let's just say I probably need to lose about 40 lbs to wear that again. So, what I'm saying is hurry up and write some of your posts about eating healthier, etc. Haha!!
You look great! Sounds like a great occasion for the dress. The shrug matches perfectly.
The dress looks great! And honestly- you have improved with age, I hope that's not insulting. I don't mean it to be.
Wow that's great that you can still wear it. You look fantastic too! Glad you had a nice time!
Oh my word, you look gorgeous!!!! Glad you had a wonderful time!
You look amazing in the dress.
I have a whole wardrobe of clothes that fit that category. Maybe, someday...
So jealous. I was actually heavier when I got married than I am now. Right after we got married we both lost a bunch of weight. I am now working on getting back to THAT weight. Wish me luck! You look great!
You are gorgeous!
How exciting for you!! I have some dresses like that, but who knows if they will ever be worn again! You looked beautiful!!
You look FABULOUS!
I have a dress from my honeymoon that I refuse to get rid of...but I think it would take surgery to get me back into it.
You look amazingly wonderful!! Glad that you had a great time :-)
So jealous and you both look great. Love the wrap with it too. Congrats to Bella on no training wheels...that is awesome.
You look great! Beautiful dress.
So glad you had a night out.
My grandfather told me the day I got married that a good marriage is evident if the woman gets more lovely as she grows older. That is so true of you! You look more amazing than you did on your honeymoon! You have given me hope that one day I might be able to fit in one of my honeymoon dresses...I think it seems impossible.
Ow-Ow! Sexy mama in da house! How fun!
You look absolutely AMAZING! Love the dress. :)
Good thing you held on to that dress. You look amazing!
