Our Farmer’s Market Yielded Much

Every Saturday during the summer our local mall has a Farmer’s Market in the parking lot.  Many local farms in Colorado come and set up shop for us to get some great food!

There is nothing quite like fresh fruit and vegetables from the local farm.  Okay, maybe fresh fruit and veggies from your own garden might be better – but some of us don’t have a green thumb.  Ahem, that would be me!  Look at those spinach leaves!Photobucket

Cucumbers, asparagus, green peppers, radishes, spinach, squash, spinach, lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, strawberries…

On the bottom left of this pic, the squash and zucchini is from the local farm – the ones right bottom of the pic are squash and zucchini from the store.  HUGE difference!

These strawberries were bright red and taste sooo good.  We ate some fresh, then I pureed the rest and made some fruit/yogurt-cicles!  My kiddos enjoy them and they are so much healthier than ice cream (which we get our fix every Sunday at DQ)!

These are HUGE!!!! And the taste of them is amazing!

Do any of you guys have a local Farmer’s Market?  I prefer eating fresh food (as you all know) so I always look forward to this special time of year when we can get fresh food and support our local farmers!

Have a great Tuesday!

YUMMY! We have one and I've been meaning to go. You are SO right... the stuff in the store just does not compare. Last year I grew my own tomatoes. They didn't do as good as I would have liked, but for a while we had yummy tomatoes anytime we wanted some. :)

I just went to our Farmers' Market this weekend! I racked up and got cabbage, watermelon, strawberries, onion, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, okra, zuchinni, peaches, egg plant, and I'm sure I'm missing something. The only thing I didn't buy from an American farmer was the eggplant, I could only find hispanics who had them, and they were big, beautiful and only $1 each!!

We LOVE our farmer's market! They don't have much yet (too cold for too long down here) but the veggies will be coming quick. We planted our own garden this year, but I love to buy from our market. The girls especially enjoy the honey people - they each get a honey stick every week.

I have been meaning to go to our market too, I just like to sleep in on Saturdays and move way to slowly to get there in time.

We grow a garden each year (my husband's the one with the green thumb) so I'm lucky to have a lot of fresh vegetables. But I still like to visit the Farmer's Market for vegetables and fruits that we don't grow at home.

I think there might be one. Maybe hubs would know. Those strawberries look so good. I make fruit/yogurt popsicles too and Kyndra loves them!

I LOVE our farmer's market. It's a little bit unusual because it's an international farmer's market. Some of the stuff is local, but there is some unique stuff brought in as well. Bruce always loves to come home with something he's never tried before!

It's that time of year around here too. Great Farmer's Markets to browse and the food is SO good!

Ooh, now I am HUNGRY. I haven't been to our local farmer's market yet this summer, but I think this post of yours might have inspired me to head out there this weekend!

Those all look delicious! My MIL grows lots of different things in her garden and my Dad used to also. Mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. They taste so much better than store-bought, for sure!

All those vegetables look so delicious! We have a garden, but it seems to grow better during the winter/early spring (AZ). My husband just planted 3 tomato plants and we were so excited then the gophers destroyed ALL 3 plants! :(
